Frequently Asked Questions
Hopefully I have answered your questions below, but please do contact me if not!
I am very happy to discuss anything to allow you to book an appointment with confidence.

How long will the appointment last? - The initial appointment will be the longest, lasting between 1.5 and 2 hours. Follow up sessions will usually last between 1 and 1.5 hours.

Will I need to remove my clothes? - No although there is a possibility that I may need to get to a muscle using skin contact but certainly for the vast majority of sessions this is not required.

What should I wear? - Loose comfortable clothes or leggings are great options. Jeans or anything with lots of pockets are not recommended. Dresses or skirts are not suitable either.

How long will it take for it to work? - It is not usually a one shot deal - it does depend on how unbalanced your body is, how long you have had the symptoms for etc. It is a bit like taking off layers of an onion - you need to work through them to get to the core issue. Gradual changes lead to long lasting results. Significant changes will usually be seen after 3 to 4 sessions. The brilliance of kinesiology is that it gets to the root cause and doesn't just deal with the symptoms (unlike the vast majority of pharmaceutical medications we are given!).

How long will the effects last? - This all depends also. We live in a world which makes it very hard to stay balanced - sugar, coffee, alcohol, stress etc all play a part in throwing us off. Fairly regular balancing is recommended to keep yourself in tip top condition. To use my own personal experience with menopause symptoms, I find that I start to feel symptoms creeping in between 6 to10 months after my last appointment. I nip it in the bud with a session straight away and by doing this means I keep everything at bay. My daughter needs a session usually once a year. If you look after your body well, you may stay balanced for a lot longer.

What do I need to do afterwards? - You will be sent an email with links to the supplements you require that your body showed to us during your session. It is recommended that you order these as soon as possible. You will leave the session balanced but need those supplements to continue the work of repairing yourself - the longer you leave it to start taking them, the more unbalanced your body will become in the meantime. So please don't leave it a week or so to order them! Please also make sure you take your supplements as you are supposed to. Missing one here and there really reduces the effectiveness of them and everything will take much longer to resolve.

Do I need to get those specific supplements or can I just grab them from the local supermarket? - To gain the best results, I strongly recommend that you only purchase the ones I have sent links for. This is because these supplier's supplements are of the best quality and will give you results much faster than those that are found in the mainstream shops. They make their supplements in batches that are much smaller than those which are sold in the supermarket and so they can control the quality a lot better. I appreciate that they are a little more expensive but I truly believe that you will not get the results you are looking for when using mainstream shop supplements.

Will I need to take those supplements forever? - No. Should you require another appointment, your body will more than likely be asking for different supplements. As the layers come away, there is normally a new need that needs to be addressed. Once your symptoms have cleared, make sure you finish the pot and then keep an eye on yourself!

Can't I just eat more of the fruit and vegetables that have those particular vitamins or minerals that I need instead of taking supplements? - In an ideal world yes, I totally agree with that. However, your body is showing that it needs certain nutrients and supplements are the best way to go about making sure it receives it quickly and in a regulated manner. You also need to bear in mind that most of the food we buy from the supermarkets no longer have the nutritional value that they used to have years ago - you would need to eat quite a bit to get the required amount. The soil our food is grown in nowadays is mostly depleted of nutrients, the seeds are genetically modified and there are high amounts of pesticides used on them. On top of that, even foods that are marketed as being 'healthy' are usually highly processed too which can remove even more nutrients from them.

How long will there be between each session? - This is dependant on the severity of the issue. Usually 4-5 weeks is normal but if things are particularly bad, then it could be beneficial to come back after 2 weeks.

How else can I help myself? - Drinking plenty of water is the best thing you can do! People sometimes say "I don't like to drink too much water as I always need to visit the bathroom too much!". You should think of it like watering a plant, little and often. If you pour water into a dried out plant, the water pours straight out of the bottom. If you pour water into hydrated soil, it is simply soaked up and used.
Keeping away from known trigger foods is always wise as is limiting your intake of coffee/alcohol and sugar - focus on eating a well rounded diet. Exercise is an important element to your well-being too. A brisk walk every day does wonders for you - add in some strength training and you'll be investing in the health of your muscles, ligaments and bone density which is critical as you age.

What information do you need from me? - You will be sent a form to complete and return before the appointment to provide all your back history, symptoms etc. We will then discuss this when you first arrive. Any information about you will be held in a locked cupboard or on a password protected laptop.

Should I refrain from eating before my appointment? - Please eat as normal on the day, but it would be beneficial to not eat anything at all or have any drinks with sugar or caffiene in them for a couple of hours before hand (best just to drink water!).

Are you insured? - Yes, I have all the necessary insurances required within the complementary therapies arena. My insurance policy is held with Zurich - policy number ZUR-BBS/23/11/1214.

Where can I park? - There is plenty of free parking around The Shaftesbury Centre - either on Percy Street itself or around the back there is a large carpark for the centre. This car park is accessed through Morris Street which is the next street along moving away from the Outlet Village and towards the Aldi supermarket.
